Saunterer

Synopsis

In the Middle Ages, some people wandered around asking for alms; with the pretext of going to the Holy Land. French children shouted “Va à Sainte Terre”. Thus “saunterer”, pilgrim. This speculative etymology contrasts with that which states that the “saunterers” were those who had neither land nor house (“Sans terre”). Whatever, this itinerant performance is linked to wandering and walking. It asks about the possibility of fleeing this homogenous world where reality is confused with capitalism. It proposes the experience of walking as a possible act of resistance to the reality we live in. Like one of the last possible acts of freedom.
