Synopsis

We had a title for this project but we don’t have it any more, just like some people had jobs, homes, healthy bodies and names, and now they don’t. “In primitive cultures, if someone does not get lost, they don’t grow up.” The trapeze, like getting lost, is the art of not having your feet on the ground, resisting in the market the hegemonies of the product. Working with local groups in resistance, this errant and circus project starts out from research into the concepts of power and resistance in relation with identity building, the work ethic, the feelings and the bodies that this globalised society produces. Artista basca formada a Anglaterra i Suècia en diverses disciplines circenses, que ha treballat amb la companyia Nofit State Circus. Sota la mirada espectacular del circ, parteix d’una investigació sobre el poder i la resistència en relació a la construcció de la identitat en una societat globalitzada, treballant amb col•lectius locals afectats per la reestructuració productiva. Amb el trapezi com a eix central, Mesa desenvolupa una metàfora sobre la universalitat i les noves formes d’acció social i participació. Un espai per als qui han perdut la fe en el paradís.
