Synopsis

A piece of contemporary dance and electronic music that rethinks the traditional contrapàs folk dance from a current, personal and subjective point of view, and from a gender perspective. The contrapàs was danced in Catalonia until the 19th century, initially in a liturgical context, and it seems that it was the forerunner of the sardana, the Catalan national dance. Àer reflects on the origin and performance of this solemn dance, originally performed, according to experts, only by men.
