With some eighty works in all the genres and styles, and a series of activities for professionals, between the 10th and 13th of September 2009, La Fira again becomes the great international market for the performing arts that, with a wide range of genres and formats, aims to put the emphasis on the creators who have public places as their reference referent or on those spectacles that would be difficult to see in a conventional theatre. FiraTàrrega shows renewed commitment to become a creative veritable territory in the international field, which is diversified with various lines of activities, such as the creative residences, the Laboratory of Creation or the leadership of the European project, Meridians. With these initiatives, FiraTàrrega, places its infrastructure and logistic support at the artists’ disposal so they can create spectacles with the maximum facilities. With all this work, La Fira reaffirms its commitment to international projection and vocation which this year is crystallised in a technical meeting co-organised with the Business Development Service of the Catalan Institute of Cultural Industries and with a cooperation agreement signed with the government of Quebec, thanks to which Tàrrega will host the works by three companies and various professionals in the performing arts from that region of Canada, as well as a round table with leading representatives of the performing arts and the circus.

INAUGURAL ACTION

The inaugural act of La Fira by the Catalan company Kiku Mistu will take place at 21:00 on Thursday the 10th. Compartim la llum is a proposal that requires active participation by the audience and in which Kiku Mistu tells two tales in the middle of a circular stage. Light is the protagonist of this montage that opens the 29th edition of La Fira.

AGREEMENT WITH QUEBEC

As mentioned above, thanks to an important agreement for collaboration with the Government of Quebec, there are 3 companies from there at FiraTàrrega: Les Parfaits Inconnus, Mobile Home and Poupées [K]rinkées. Moreover, the leading representatives of the performing arts from Québec are also attending La Fira and will take an active part in La Llotja and the professional activities. They will also take part in a round table at La Fira.

BLANC!

BLANC! is an artistic proposal promoted by FiraTàrrega that brings together various spectacles for all audiences with the use of white as common aspects. A calm place, with a different tempo from La Fira, with another rhythm, without stridencies, without haste, in a natural setting and designed for all the family. This proposal includes the participation of Efímer, Théâtre de la Toupine, Cie. Man Drake i Tomeu Vergés, Circo Delícia, Ttukunak and Ruben Friedrich, among others.

PROFESSIONAL MEETINGS

Once again, La Fira is the meeting place for professionals of the national and international performing arts. Besides the programming of spectacles, there are a multitude of parallel meetings and activities destined for professionals. 

PREMIERES

There are 18 premieres at FiraTàrrega 2009. Nine of these are premieres and the other 9 are first performances in Spain. Thus both the audiences and professionals will have the chance to be the first to know the latest tendencies in the national and international performing arts.

LABORATORY OF CREATION AND CREATIVE RESIDENCE

La Fira encourages the creation and production of works by young companies throughout the year with the creative residence. The winning company of the “Laboratory of Creation 2009” is Ponten Pie, who are preparing Copacabana in Tàrrega. Karam Cia. also stayed in Tàrrega to finalise the show called Residual Gurus that they will present at La Fira.

VOTING FOR THE SAN MIGUEL AWARDS BY SMS

Keeping up to date with the new technologies, the San Miguel Award by popular vote is changing the voting format. The members of the audience can vote for their favourite company by SMS. Each company has been given a number and the one that wins will receive as prize of € 6,000.

DISCOUNTS OF UP TO 30% ON TICKETS

La Fira provides the audiences with a new type of discount. It is called the progressive discount and can save up to 30% on the ticket price. The tickets can be acquired through the Tel·Entrada service of Caixa Catalunya or from the central ticket offices in the Plaça del Carme (Pati) in Tàrrega.
